Distribution of Long DCC addresses in FREMO

How Lok decoders get their addresses?

Why?

In order to reduce construction time by a FREMO-meeting, the setup of the DCC hardware has to be simple and easy to operate. Therefore it is an advantage if locomotives not has to be reprogrammed on meetings, specifically to ensure that the two locomotives has the same address at the event. Therefore, it is obvious to agree on a system where all long addresses uniquely assigned to a vehicle.

Scale Size?

Stock with different shell, which of course does not run on the same modular construction during an event, may of principle have the same addresses, so that addresses in the different scale´s are  distributed independently.

Which long addresses do we distribute?

Address Area Application
short addresses
Used exclusively only when a decoder with a long address can not be used.
An allocation plan exists so far only for H0-Europe H0-Europa
0000..0199 Is not used, since it only create confusion with short addresses in the range 0...127 and since the protocol used for LocoNet, can not separate these numbers.
0200..0299

Is reserved for technical play. However, it is not 100% in place, whether we should use it, but sometime in the future equipment can be developed, which can only use certain addresses. Since this equipment is likely to be used by several groups, the addresses are reserved for all groups.
So far this number range was not used by H0, since for ergonomic reasons it is difficult to choose a 200 address from a DT100.

Distributed worldwide addresses:

  • 0250 Modeltimeclock RKDCC

0300..9979

Available for lokdekoder, distribution managed by each scale group.

Currently there are five groups who independently allocate long addresses:

  1. H0-Europa (Standard gauge&H0m&H0e)
  2. H0-USA
  3. N-Europa
  4. america-N
  5. TT
  6. FREMO:87
  7. H0m-RhB
  8. H0-Fine
9980..10239 Not used because they can not be selected from a DT100.
